Drug Repurposing Call to Treat Chronic Respiratory Infection

Funds UK-led consortia repurposing drugs for bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis.

ClosedLifeArcUnited Kingdom

LifeArc runs this call as part of its Translational Challenge in Chronic Respiratory Infection, following a joint workshop it held with the MRC in 2022 that identified the unmet needs of people with bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis. Funding progresses through milestones tracked in joint steering group meetings that include LifeArc, rather than being paid as a single sum, and is decided in two st

The call wants consortia developing repurposed, repositioned or de-prioritised therapeutics that target the cycle of infection, inflammation and lung damage in bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis — including improving muco-ciliary clearance, treating infection or reducing inflammation. New drug discovery, high-throughput screening and standalone biomarker or model development are explicitly excluded.
