Expression of interest: Precision prevention: biological mechanisms of response variation

Funding for human studies of biological mechanisms in precision prevention.

OpenMedical Research CouncilUnited Kingdom

This funding opportunity supports interventional studies in humans to validate a mechanistic hypothesis and directly interrogate the biological mechanisms governing the transition from health to early disease and the mechanisms underlying variation in response to biomedical prevention interventions.

Projects must involve an experimental investigation in humans at their core, designed to validate …

In scope are experimental investigations in humans that validate a mechanistic hypothesis in pre-disease, early stage or emerging disease, including a biomedical intervention or challenge with an established safety profile. Exploratory biomarker studies, biomarker discovery projects, observational studies involving no experimental challenge, animal experimental interventions or challenges, pre-clinical model development and validation, and projects focused on managing established disease rather than preventing its onset are ineligible.
