In scope are academically led experimental medicine research projects in humans that generate causal mechanistic insights into gambling disorder. Applications must focus on a mechanistic hypothesis and include an experimental intervention or challenge in humans. Applications should move beyond identifying correlates and behavioural endpoints to test causal pathways underlying gambling addiction emergence, progression or response to treatment. The term gambling disorder encompasses the clinical condition as defined by recognised diagnostic criteria. The opportunity is not primarily aimed at discovering new treatments.
