Innovations in Diabetes Care
Pays UK community nurses up to £5,000 per project, plus a year of QNI project support, to run innovation projects that improve diabetes care.
The QNI could fund seven projects for 2024. Each successful project received up to £5,000 plus a year of QNI project management support, regular online meetings, and a site visit. Applicants were encouraged to discuss their idea with QNI staff first; shortlisted applicants were then interviewed online before final projects commenced in spring 2024.
The QNI sought innovative ideas from Registered Nurses in community settings -- including primary care and social care -- to improve diabetes care, funded through a major grant from The Burdett Trust for Nursing. Nurses working for a charity, community interest company, or GP practice were eligible alongside those in NHS organisations, though private and for-profit companies were excluded.
