The Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP) FY26 is one of the largest congressional cancer research programs administered by the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) under the Army Medical Research and Development Command. The FY26 appropriation of $165 million, signed into law February 3, 2026 under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2026, funds research across 20 congressionally directed cancer topic areas. The program's stated mission is transforming health care through innovative and impactful research. The FY26 Program Announcement was released May 6, 2026. All three award mechanisms share a mandatory pre-application stage submitted via the eBRAP (electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal) with a pre-application deadline of June 26, 2026; full applications are submitted via both Grants.gov (CFDA 12.420) and eBRAP, with a full-application deadline of October 5, 2026.

Three award mechanisms are available under PRCRP FY26: the Clinical Trial Award, targeting clinical-stage cancer research; the Idea Award, targeting early-stage discovery science; and the Impact Award, targeting translational and applied research bridging laboratory findings toward clinical benefit. All three mechanisms target different points on the research-to-practice continuum, allowing investigators at varied stages of scientific development to find a relevant entry point. Award amounts per mechanism are specified in the Funding Opportunity Announcement PDFs available through eBRAP and are not published on the public-facing program page. Eligible applicants include universities, nonprofit research organizations, for-profit entities, and foreign organizations; individual investigators must be affiliated with an eligible institution.

CDMRP programs require that studies include women and minority populations as appropriate, and that sex as a biological variable is addressed in research design. PRCRP is one of 31 distinct CDMRP programs in FY26, with the broader CDMRP portfolio totaling $1.27 billion for FY26. Investigators should obtain the full FOA PDF via eBRAP to confirm award ceilings, page limits, and scoring criteria for their selected mechanism before beginning an application.
