DoW Alzheimer's Transforming Research Award
Funds research into Alzheimer's risk factors or prevention strategies, aimed at stopping the disease before it starts rather than treating it after.
Most Alzheimer's funding goes toward people who already have the disease. This award goes upstream of that — toward understanding what raises the risk in the first place, and what might lower it before symptoms ever show up.

Non-incremental research reducing Alzheimer's disease risk or preventing its development, addressing at least one of two focus areas — identifying or validating risk and protective factors, or developing methods, technologies or strategies that reduce risk or prevent the disease — with clinical research allowed but clinical trials and animal research prohibited, preliminary data required, and community collaboration required for research prospectively enrolling human subjects.
