Project Cybersafe Schools is a Cloudflare program that provides free Zero Trust cybersecurity services to small public K-12 school districts in the United States. Schools face a growing range of cyber threats — including ransomware, phishing, Business Email Compromise, and credential harvesting — that disrupt teaching and risk the exposure of confidential student data, yet many small districts lack the budget to deploy enterprise-grade defenses. Project Cybersafe Schools was created to close that gap for the smallest and most under-resourced districts.

Eligible applicants are K-12 public school districts located in the United States with an enrollment of up to 2,500 students. Charter schools, private schools, and districts above the 2,500-student threshold are not eligible through this program, though Cloudflare offers paid packages for larger districts. Admitted districts receive two services at no cost and with no time limit: Cloudflare Gateway DNS filtering, which blocks access to ransomware sites, phishing domains, and harmful content, and can be deployed as a technology protection measure for compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA); and the Cloud Email Security (CES) Advantage Package, which protects against malware-less Business Email Compromise, multichannel phishing, credential harvesting, and other targeted email attacks. As of 2025, the program supports 131 school districts across 30 US states.

The program is entirely in-kind, with no cash or monetary disbursement to participants. There is no application deadline and no funding pool — eligible districts are admitted on a rolling basis. Districts apply directly through the Project Cybersafe Schools landing page at cloudflare.com. Larger districts outside the enrollment cap should contact k-12@cloudflare.com to explore paid options.
