Funds two-site feasibility studies of meditation, yoga, acupuncture and similar interventions, before anyone attempts a full trial.
Large clinical trials of mind and body interventions fail for unglamorous reasons: the intervention gets delivered differently at each site, recruitment stalls, or the data cannot be collected the same way twice. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health intends to fund the step that finds those problems early.
