Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Department of the Navy (DoN) Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Institutions (HBCU/MI) Program
Funds research capacity at HBCUs and minority institutions doing naval-relevant science and engineering.
HBCUs and minority-serving institutions do less Navy-funded research than they could, and the Navy loses a pipeline of engineers and scientists because of it. This program exists to close that gap directly.
Money goes toward building up research capacity and infrastructure at these institutions β not funding a single experiment, but strengthening the lab, the people and the collaborations behind β¦
Research capacity- and infrastructure-building projects at HBCUs and accredited post-secondary minority institutions, in scientific and engineering disciplines relevant to the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps mission, combined with student and faculty STEM engagement. Non-research STEM activities are out of scope.
