DoW Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Research Program, Clinical Outcomes and Biomarkers Award
Funds developing or validating the biomarkers and outcome measures that make ALS clinical trials sharper, not the trials themselves.
ALS clinical trials keep stalling for a reason that has nothing to do with the drug: nobody agrees on how to measure whether it's working. This award pays for fixing that measurement problem, not for running a trial itself.
Two related tracks are open. One is biomarkers β identifying, developing or validating a biological signal for ALS risk, diagnosis, disease progression, prognosis, prediction,β¦
Development and validation of clinical outcome measures and biomarkers to enrich ALS clinical trials β susceptibility, diagnostic, monitoring, prognostic, predictive, response or safety biomarkers, and clinician-, observer- or patient-reported or performance outcome measures, optionally using digital health tools, with the research question shaped by the ALS lived-experience community. Projects may target a specific therapy, drug class or ALS subtype rather than all patients.
