DoW Orthopaedic, Clinical Research Award
Funds clinical research into combat orthopaedic injury at two levels β one observational, one requiring an actual clinical trial.
A promising idea about treating orthopaedic injury does not become clinical practice on its own β someone has to test it in real patients, and that is a different, more expensive step than the applied research that precedes it.
The Clinical Research Award funds exactly that, at two distinct levels, each with its own focus-area list rather than a shared one. Research Level 1 covers clinical researβ¦
Clinical research and clinical trials evaluating orthopaedic-specific factors and interventions for combat and service-related injury, generating evidence to optimise patient outcomes and inform clinical care or policy. Research Level 1 (clinical research, no trial) covers ligamentous trauma, osseointegration outcomes, return-to-duty strategies and military women's health; Research Level 2 (clinical trials) covers ligamentous trauma, limb stabilization and protection, and return-to-duty strategies.
