The Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF) was established under the Maryland Stem Cell Research Act of 2006 to promote state-funded human stem cell research and medical treatments through grants to public and private entities in Maryland. TEDCO administers the fund, which operates through a dedicated site at mscrf.org. The fund supports seven distinct sub-programmes spanning the full translation pipeline: Launch, Discovery, Validation, Commercialisation, Clinical, Post-Doctoral Fellowship, and Manufacturing Assistance. For the Summer 2026 cycle, Requests for Applications have been released and the unified submission deadline is June 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM EST. Eligibility differs by track: the Launch track targets new faculty under five years at Maryland institutions or researchers new to stem cell work; Validation is for Maryland university or research institute faculty with existing stem cell intellectual property; Commercialisation is open to start-ups and established companies developing stem cell products; Clinical requires an active Investigational New Drug (IND) application and ongoing human stem cell clinical trials in Maryland; Manufacturing Assistance targets organisations advancing Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) stem cell production in Maryland. The Discovery track (for Maryland university faculty developing novel stem cell technologies) and the Post-Doctoral Fellowship track (for recent doctorate recipients within three years) run only in the mid-January cycle and are not open in the Summer 2026 cycle. The Clinical and Manufacturing Assistance tracks each require a 1:1 non-state match. Per-track award maximums are not published on the TEDCO programme page and must be confirmed at mscrf.org; historical figures include approximately $345,000 for Discovery, up to $300,000 for Validation, and over $1,000,000 for some Clinical awards. Applicants should review the track-specific RFAs at mscrf.org before preparing materials, as eligibility conditions differ meaningfully across sub-programmes.

State grants across seven tracks—from early discovery through clinical trials and manufacturing—for Maryland-based institutions and companies advancing human stem cell research and medical treatments.
