Utilizing Equipment to Study Environmental Extrinsic Factors and Enhance Rigor and Reproducibility of Animal Research (Clinical Trials Not-Allowed)
Funds the kit that measures what else is happening to lab animals — light, noise, temperature — because those variables quietly wreck reproducibility.
A surprising amount of irreproducible animal research comes down to things nobody recorded: the light cycle, the noise, the temperature, the cage. The Office of Research Infrastructure Programs funds work on exactly those extrinsic environmental factors and on the equipment needed to capture them.
Applications are invited from core facilities, resource centres, animal vivaria and investigators ru…
Systematic study of critical environmental extrinsic factors in biological, behavioural and treatment studies using animal models, to improve rigour and reproducibility, together with acquisition or updating of equipment that measures, monitors, records and reports environmental, biological or biobehavioural variables on several parameters at once.
