Screening only saves lives if people are screened, get their abnormal result followed up, and reach care. In populations that experience health disparities, each of those three steps fails more often. Trials of interventions to increase uptake of cancer screening, preventive services, timely follow-up of abnormal findings and referral to care in populations experiencing health disparities, addressing barriers at two or more of the patient, clinician, healthcare setting and community levels. A clinical trial is required.
