Highly innovative, high-risk research on the aetiology, pathophysiology, prevention or treatment of substance use disorders that is sparse or absent from the institute's current portfolio, either developing or adapting revolutionary techniques and methods, or testing a significant hypothesis with scant precedent or preliminary data that would transform current thinking if confirmed. Clinical trials are optional.
