Between cyclesNational Institutes of HealthUnited States

Some questions about alcohol misuse are too broad and too interdisciplinary for a single research grant to answer, and a stack of unconnected individual projects on the same topic does not add up to the same thing as a coordinated centre.

NIAAA's Specialized Alcohol Research Centers programme funds exactly that kind of centre: a group of researchers working on alcohol misuse, alcohol use disorder…

Interdisciplinary, multi-investigator centres researching the nature, aetiology, genetics, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of alcohol misuse and alcohol use disorder, and their biomedical, psychosocial and economic consequences across the lifespan, with an emphasis on mentoring early-career investigators. Clinical trials are optional.
