Transformative Technologies for Experimental and Computational RNome Characterization and Functional Analysis

Funds early, high-risk RNA technology not yet proven at scale, developed through two milestone-gated phases.

Not every RNA-technology problem has a working answer yet. Some need an idea nobody has proven at scale, or even outside a single lab.

This notice is one of four initiatives under the NIH Common Fund's RNomics program, alongside a technology-enhancement track, a molecular-standards track, and a coordinating center. This piece funds the transformative-technologies track.

Phased development of new, early-stage experimental and computational RNA technologies not yet demonstrated at scale or in biologically relevant systems, addressing major limitations of current RNA-sequencing, modification-detection, and functional-analysis methods, with Phase 1 milestones gating transition to a Phase 2 that must deliver validated, community-usable tools.
