SOFWERX Assessment Events

SOFWERX Assessment Events are in-person technology evaluation engagements under the SOFWERX and DEFENSEWERX structure for USSOCOM mission needs. A specific sponsor such as PEO SOFSA, PEO-SW, J2, or JATF frames the challenge, and selected innovators come to Tampa to demonstrate their capabilities against that need. These events run multiple times a year, are limited to U.S.-based participation, and allow for-profit companies, nonprofits, universities, and research organizations while excluding individuals. They are not conventional grants. The public event pages do not publish one standard award size because outcomes can move through other transaction agreements, CRADAs, prize competitions, or FAR contracts depending on the event and sponsor. The strongest submissions are mission-specific, easy to evaluate, and ready for a downselect process because the event is designed to move from capability documentation to live demonstration. Many events also carry a U.S.-persons-only expectation, so teams should verify staffing and eligibility before they invest heavily in an event response.
