Eureka Lightweighting Call — Walloon Partner Share

Funds Walloon companies in international collaborative research developing innovative lightweighting technologies.

The 2026 Eureka Multilateral Lightweighting Call is an international collaborative R&D programme for which SPW Recherche funds the Walloon partner's share of eligible costs. The call is open from 6 May 2026 to 8 October 2026 at 17:00 CEST, with funding decisions expected in December 2026 and project starts anticipated from approximately February 2027. Funded activities address innovative lightweighting technologies with environmental impact reduction objectives, spanning advanced manufacturing, materials science, transport, aerospace, energy, and climate sectors. Only for-profit enterprises with an operational site in Wallonia and good financial standing are eligible to apply as Walloon partners.

SPW Recherche reimburses 60–80% of eligible costs for industrial research activities and 40–60% for experimental development, with the precise rate determined by company size: the higher end applies to small enterprises and the lower end to large companies. Consortia must involve partners from at least two Eureka member countries, and no single national partner group may exceed 70% of the total project budget. Maximum project duration is three years. Subcontracting to research institutions is capped at 20% of the Walloon partner's budget. Absolute award amounts are not fixed — they depend on the scope of the Walloon partner's workpackage.

A dual-platform submission requirement is a hard eligibility condition: Walloon applicants must file a complete submission both on the international Eureka platform and on SPW Recherche's ONTIME portal by the 8 October deadline; failure to complete either submission renders the application ineligible. ONTIME submissions must be in French. Teams coordinating a multi-national consortium should begin aligning budget structures and partner declarations well in advance, as reconciling two platform requirements on the same deadline creates significant administrative pressure.
