Win4Company — R&D Aid
Funds Walloon industrial teams through a regional programme for research and experimental development projects.
Win4Company is the year-round, continuously open R&D aid programme administered by the Service Public de Wallonie Économie, Emploi, Recherche (SPW-EER) for companies conducting research and development activities with an operating site in Wallonia, Belgium. The programme covers two categories of R&D: industrial research and experimental development. Industrial research projects receive a non-repayable grant at rates of 50% for large enterprises, 60% for medium enterprises, and 70% for small enterprises of eligible costs. Experimental development projects receive a recoverable advance — repayable on commercial success — at 35% (large), 45% (medium), or 55% (small). Partnership bonuses of an additional 10 percentage points for grants or 15 percentage points for recoverable advances apply when the project is conducted in a qualifying research partnership.
Eligibility is restricted to for-profit companies with an established operating site (siège d'exploitation) in Wallonia. The applicant must be compliant with VAT obligations, ONSS social security contributions, and Walloon regional requirements. Nonprofits, universities, research organizations, and individuals cannot apply directly. The same project cannot have previously received other public funding for the same scope. There is no fixed application deadline — Win4Company operates as a rolling programme with applications handled individually throughout the year via the ONTIME portal, with all submissions and documentation in French.
Win4Company suits companies at any stage of R&D from foundational industrial research through to near-market experimental development. Applicants should determine upfront whether their project constitutes industrial research or experimental development, as the instrument type (non-repayable grant versus recoverable advance) and applicable rate differ. Partnership with a research organization triggers the bonus rate, which can significantly increase the funding level. The SPW-EER evaluates each dossier individually; there is no competition against other applicants for a fixed call budget, which reduces timing risk compared to batch-call programmes.
Year-round R&D aid for Walloon companies conducting industrial research (non-repayable grant at 50–70% of costs) or experimental development (recoverable advance at 35–55%), with partnership bonuses available for collaborative projects.
