Innovation Project with Implementation Partner
Supports Swiss innovation by co-funding projects between research institutions and implementation partners.
Innovation Projects with Implementation Partner is the flagship Innosuisse mechanism. Two parties apply jointly: a Swiss research partner (university, ETH/EPFL, federal research institute, or non-commercial research centre) and a Swiss implementation partner (SME, large company, start-up, or non-profit). Innosuisse pays the research partner directly at 40-60 percent of total project cost. The implementation partner covers the remaining 40-60 percent in cash and in-kind contributions, plus a cash contribution to the research partner of at least 5 percent of total project cost.
Projects are evaluated against six criteria: level of innovation, value creation for the Swiss economy or society, methodological quality, expertise of project partners, contribution to sustainable development, and (for social-sciences projects) reduction in social costs. The Innovation Council meets in five thematic subgroups eight times per year. Applicants receive a decision within 6-8 weeks of submission, provided the application is submitted at least six weeks before the next subgroup meeting.
Any field of innovation. Decisions are made by the Innovation Council in five thematic subgroups: ICT, Life Sciences, Engineering, Energy and Environment, Social Sciences and Business Management.
