Non-thematic research actions by SMEs and research organisations
Pays SMEs and research organisations up to EUR 5 million each for disruptive, TRL 4-plus defence research of their own choosing.
This single-stage EDF Lump Sum call is implemented in indirect management by the European Defence Agency; EUR 35 million is set aside for the topic and a single proposal can request up to EUR 5 million. Proposals must go beyond pure studies, and funded actions run 12 to 36 months (other durations accepted if justified).
The European Defence Agency wants SME and research-organisation proposals that demonstrate disruptive impact on defence applications — covering innovative technologies and solutions that improve the readiness, deployability, reliability, safety or sustainability of armed forces, from operations and equipment through energy, surveillance or digital solutions. It also welcomes add-on research that adapts existing civilian technology, not yet applied in defence, reaching at least TRL 4.
