The Egyptian-Spanish IT Innovation Program (ESITIP) is a bilateral R&D co-funding scheme jointly operated by ITIDA (Egypt) and CDTI — Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (Spain) — since 2016. The program finances ambitious joint ICT innovation projects involving at least one ITIDA-registered Egyptian private company and at least one Spanish private company. Each country funds its own national participants: ITIDA supports the Egyptian side while CDTI separately funds the Spanish side. The 2026 call launched February 2, 2026 and set a deadline of May 21, 2026.
On the Egyptian side, Product Development Projects (PDPs) are funded at up to EGP 3 million over a maximum of two years, while Applied Research Projects (ARPs) are funded at up to EGP 1.5 million. Projects that include IC fabrication or circuit prototyping activities are eligible for an additional EGP 250,000 on top of the standard PDP or ARP ceiling. Universities and research institutions may join the consortium as self-funded participants — they do not receive direct ITIDA or CDTI funding. The minimum required consortium is one Egyptian ICT private company plus one Spanish private company; additional partners from either country or from third countries may join.
Applications for the 2026 call are submitted through CDTI's electronic services portal on the Spanish side, coordinated with ITIDA on the Egyptian side. The program has run annually since 2016 and a 2027 call is expected in early 2027. Organisations interested in the next cycle should begin identifying a Spanish private-company partner and ensure Egyptian participants are listed in ITIDA's Companies Database. All ESITIP inquiries can be directed to ESITIP@itida.gov.eg.
