The ITAC Collaborative Funded Projects (CFP) program is ITIDA's primary instrument for financing university–industry R&D collaboration in Egypt, structured around converting innovative concepts into market-ready products. Round 40, which opened March 1, 2026, accepted Product Development Project (PDP) submissions only — Preliminary Research Project (PRP) submissions were temporarily suspended in this round. PDPs cover prototype-to-product development work over a period of up to 18 months, with funding of up to EGP 3 million for standard software and IT projects and up to EGP 5 million for electronics products that are ready for mass production. Eligible technology domains include artificial intelligence, blockchain, IoT, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and electronics, with applications in healthcare, agriculture, education, and energy.

Applicant companies must be registered in ITIDA's Companies Database before submitting, and each company may submit only one proposal per round. The principal investigator is required to hold a PhD with publications or patents directly relevant to the proposal's technical scope. Consortium structures involving at least one established Egyptian ICT company as the industrial partner are required; universities and research organisations may participate as academic partners. The Round 40 PDP deadline was April 30, 2026.

The ITAC CFP program has run over 40 consecutive rounds, demonstrating its maturity as a recurring funding channel. The next round (Round 41) is expected to be announced after evaluation of Round 40 submissions. Applicants should submit proposals via the dedicated portal at cfp.itida.gov.eg and direct queries to itac@itida.gov.eg. Organisations that missed the PRP window in Round 40 should anticipate PRP eligibility returning in subsequent rounds, as PRP awards have historically provided up to EGP 700,000 for startup-focused proposals and up to EGP 350,000 for other organisations, covering up to 12 months of idea-to-concept work.

R&D co-funding for Egyptian university–industry consortia to advance ICT product development projects in AI, blockchain, IoT, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and electronics toward commercial readiness.
