Organisation of high-quality master or post-graduate courses in conference interpreting 2026-2027

The European Parliament funds higher-education institutions, university consortia and interpreter-training associations that run or coordinate postgraduate courses in conference interpreting, so it can recruit enough qualified interpreters — as staff or accredited freelance agents — in the language combinations it needs. Funded actions include promoting quality and linguistic diversity in interpreter teaching across EU, candidate-country and key partner-country languages, building postgraduate centres of excellence, cross-border cooperation between courses in different countries, regional cooperation among universities, and bringing modern information and communication technology into interpreter training. Because Member States, not the EU, are formally responsible for providing this training, the Parliament's role is to identify priority language combinations and assist universities rather than run the courses itself.
