Beatriz Galindo Grants — Attracting Research Talent (Ayudas Beatriz Galindo)

Offers research teams and institutions for Ayudas Beatriz Galindo Atracción del Talento Investigador in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and climate technology.

The Beatriz Galindo programme is administered directly by Spain's Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (MICIU) under the Secretaría General de Universidades. Its purpose is to attract researchers who have built careers abroad back to Spain's public university system by subsidising their salaries as distinguished professors. The programme sits within the Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica y Técnica y de Innovación 2024–2027 and operates as an annual competitive call, with the 2025 edition carrying a total budget of €18.8 million.

Two modalities exist. The Senior category covers researchers with seven or more years of post-doctoral teaching and research experience abroad, with a minimum annual funding of €90,000 per position (of which the university must contribute at least €25,000, including Social Security). The Junior category targets researchers with fewer than seven years abroad, with a minimum annual funding of €50,000 (university contribution of at least €15,000). Universities must contract the researcher for a minimum of four years as a distinguished professor. Each public university may request no more than five awards per call, and the call permits a maximum of sixty Junior and forty Senior positions — one hundred total. Eligibility is restricted to public universities compliant with Law 38/2003.

The 2025 call ran from 14 January to 27 February 2026 and is now closed; the 2026 call is expected to open in late 2026 on a similar timetable. Applications are submitted through the Spanish Ministry's electronic seat portal. Competitive strength correlates with the researcher's citation record, international profile, and the quality of the university's hosting plan. Institutions should budget for the mandatory co-funding share before applying and limit CVs to three per application. Contact for queries: beatrizgalindo@ciencia.gob.es.
