HERA medical countermeasures for CBRN threats – Medicinal products

Funds R&D on vaccines and drugs that protect against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.

The Commission structures this as an end-to-end pipeline rather than a single research grant: alongside the advanced R&D itself, it also expects proposals to involve end users and security practitioners to help bring the resulting countermeasures closer to market readiness, and to support market-readiness work or entrepreneurial and technical skills development. Within the biological-threat catego

This topic funds advanced research and development of medicinal countermeasures against CBRN threats — vaccines and therapeutics such as antivirals, small molecules, antimicrobials and monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies for biological threats, plus antidotes and supportive treatments for chemical agents, and treatments for radiation exposure. It's aimed at threat-agnostic countermeasures and platform approaches that bridge the gap from research to market readiness, including tech and entrepreneurial skills support.
