SSbD bio-based polymers/copolymers unlocking new market applications
Funds scale-up of safe-and-sustainable bio-based polymers or co-polymers that match or beat fossil-based alternatives on performance.
This topic runs as a single-stage Horizon JU Innovation Action under the CBE JU's 2025 work programme, open from 3 April 2025 to 18 September 2025, with two grants of EUR 7,000,000 each expected. The EUR 172,137,258 figure shown against this topic on the Portal is the shared envelope for all thirteen topics in the same CBE JU 2025 call, not this topic's own money. Proposals must demonstrate bio-ba…
The call wants bio-based (co-)polymer production scaled to TRL 6-7 with functional properties on par with fossil-based or bio-based benchmarks, validated in end products across at least two application sectors at TRL 5 or above. Landfilling or incineration are not accepted as end-of-life options — the design must target genuine circularity.
