Open-source EDA tools development

Funds up to four consortia building or improving open-source chip-design (EDA) tools for digital, analogue and mixed-signal design, released under an open-source licence.

Results must be extensively documented and disseminated: precise documentation, user manuals and video tutorials are required, alongside teaching materials and courses built on open resources so academic institutions across the EU can use them and individuals can self-study, with cooperation encouraged with initiatives like EUROPRACTICE. Consortia must engage directly with the Chips Act Design Pla

The call wants open-source electronic design automation (EDA) tools across three streams: digital system-on-chip design in mainstream 65-28nm nodes, a full analogue/mixed-signal design flow, and productivity/interoperability/verification tooling. Selected teams must integrate their tools into the EU Chips Act's Design Platform and secure foundry access to process design kits.
