Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU)

Microelectronic – Front-End Module (FEM)

Funds one project to design a European front-end-module chipset for 6G radio in the FR3 (7-15 GHz) frequency range.

This is a single-stage Research and Innovation Action that the SNS Joint Undertaking expects to fund once, at up to twelve million euros drawn from a topic budget of the same size, with a full proposal limited to seventy pages under the derogation that applies to Stream B and C. At least half the budget has to be implemented by an SNS JU industry member or its affiliated entities, and applicants r

This topic calls for a complete Front End Module design -- combining a Digital Front End and a Radio Front End capable of handling at least 200 MHz channels -- with node integration that supports further transfer to Chip JU Pilot Lines and secure Integrated Communication and Sensing functions. Work that focuses solely on FR1, or that sits entirely above 24 GHz, falls outside the scope of this call; FR1 or FR2 support only fits where a single system integrates multiple bands through genuine integration breakthroughs. A proposal that covers only part of the scope is expected to name clearly which areas or priorities it addresses.
