NIH Quantum Computing Challenge

Awards up to $1.3 million across stages for new quantum algorithms solving biomedical problems.

Stage 1 proposals are scored out of 100 points across five weighted criteria: Approach carries the most weight at 35 points, Innovation follows at 20, and Team, Feasibility and Potential Impact each carry 15. A panel mixing outside experts with federal reviewers scores every submission first, federal employees serving as judges then select the winners from those scores, and an Award Approving Offi

The challenge is for teams adapting or building quantum computing algorithms for biomedical use cases, across three areas: drug discovery, clinical risk prediction and diagnosis, and biomedical imaging or genomic data analysis. It's one of two parallel prize challenges under NIH's Quantum Biomedical Innovations and Technologies (Qu-BIT) Program.
