WEAVE-UNISONO
Funds bilateral and trilateral Polish research collaborations through lead-agency international partnerships.
WEAVE-UNISONO is a bilateral and trilateral basic-research funding programme administered by Poland's National Science Centre (NCN). It enables Polish researchers to collaborate with partners in Austria (FWF), Czechia (GACR), Slovenia (ARIS), Switzerland (SNSF), Germany (DFG), Luxembourg (FNR), or Belgium-Flanders (FWO) within a lead-agency framework, meaning Polish applicants submit to NCN while their foreign counterparts apply simultaneously to their respective national funders.
Projects run 24, 36, or 48 months depending on the scope of work agreed between the partner teams. NCN's 2026 allocation for WEAVE-UNISONO stands at 50,000,000 PLN. The submission window is continuous rather than tied to discrete call rounds, with the NCN portal accepting applications until 30 December 2026.
Eligibility follows standard NCN rules: the principal investigator must hold a doctoral degree and be affiliated with a recognised research unit in Poland. The programme covers all scientific disciplines supported by NCN, from natural sciences and engineering to the humanities and social sciences. Teams must demonstrate genuine bilateral or trilateral scientific collaboration, with substantive research contributions from each national partner.
Bilateral or trilateral basic research in any discipline, co-funded by Polish and partner-country teams via the Lead Agency Procedure with Austria, Czechia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, or Belgium-Flanders.
