ERA4Health PREVENTOO 2026 is a transnational call under the ERA4Health partnership, coordinated by ISCIII (Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain) and funded through Horizon Europe through 2028. The call targets two research themes: mechanistic understanding of the causes and complications of obesity, and public health strategies for obesity prevention during critical life transitions such as childhood, adolescence, pregnancy, and aging. UEFISCDI provides EUR 1,000,000 in Romanian national co-funding for Romanian participants in funded international consortia. The call launched November 13, 2025; the pre-proposal deadline of January 21, 2026 has passed; the final proposal deadline is June 10, 2026.
Romanian applicants — including universities, research institutes, nonprofits, and for-profit life science entities — must participate as members of a transnational ERA4Health consortium rather than as solo Romanian applicants. The EUR 1,000,000 national allocation is distributed across all Romanian partners in internationally evaluated winning projects. As the pre-proposal stage closed on January 21, 2026, only invited applicants who submitted pre-proposals are eligible for the June 10, 2026 full proposal deadline. AHRC funds 80 percent of Full Economic Cost for projects in the UK component; the Romanian component follows UEFISCDI national eligibility rules.
For Romanian biomedical researchers and public health institutions working on obesity, metabolic syndrome, or nutrition epidemiology, ERA4Health PREVENTOO represents direct access to a Horizon Europe co-funded European network. Teams with established cohort access, metabolomics infrastructure, or public health intervention expertise are most competitive. Romanian PIs at full proposal stage should emphasize translational applicability of their mechanistic findings and demonstrate a clear research collaboration plan with the consortium lead institution.
Transnational mechanistic research on causes and complications of obesity, and public health strategies for obesity prevention during critical life transitions, co-funded by UEFISCDI with EUR 1,000,000 for Romanian consortium partners.
