Zero Emission Vessels and Infrastructure 2: Electric Power
Build and demonstrate battery-electric vessels or novel shore power systems.
This competition funds the development and build of innovative 100% battery electric vessels with accompanying charging infrastructure, and novel, innovative and commercially viable shore power systems with related port energy infrastructure and vessel upgrades.
It is for UK business-led collaborative projects. The lead must be a UK registered business and must be, or work with, a UK registered s…
In scope are innovative 100% battery electric new build or retrofit vessels and accompanying charging infrastructure, including related energy infrastructure at ports; and novel, innovative and commercially viable shore power systems, including related energy infrastructure at ports and accompanying vessel upgrades. Infrastructure can include physical structures or systems needed for 100% battery electric vessel operations, onshore or offshore, including localised energy generation, load management and energy storage supplying maritime vessels. Smart shipping, digital and autonomy technologies are in scope only if developed as part of a project focussed on these themes. The competition will not fund projects focusing on battery electric vessels that are not 100% battery electric; shore power systems that are not novel, innovative and commercially viable; fossil fuels or fossil fuel powertrains; Personal Watercraft; submarines and submersible vessels; military applications; solutions covered by existing commercial agreements; or duplicates of existing innovation.
