The Local Water Environment Grant is a payment mechanism for partnership projects within the Environment Agency. It provides capital and revenue grants to local authorities and third sector organisations.
Projects must improve the local water environment and deliver relevant water, protected-area, wetland-habitat, or species outcomes. They are developed with the Catchment or Coastal Partnership, …
In scope are projects that address a reason for not achieving good status, a reason for deterioration, or a heavily modified waterbody mitigation measure; improve or restore protected area status; and/or create or restore priority wetland habitat or conserve and enhance water department species of principle importance. Projects must be designed to deliver an action where there is no responsible direct owner, or where direct public intervention, coordination and investment is needed to attract other investors and voluntary groups to work together for public good.
