This programme funds essential interdisciplinary research on the wildland-urban interface (WUI). It supports collaborative research projects with partners from the US, Canada or both to improve understanding of and resilience to wildfire occurrence and impacts in the WUI.

Essential interdisciplinary research on the wildland-urban interface (WUI), covering wildfire occurrence, intensity, behaviour and spread; environmental, social, cultural, human health, economic or built environment impacts; and interventions and solutions for adaptation, mitigation and recovery. Applications must address at least two programme aims, of which one must be aim three.
