NCCIH Natural Product Early Phase Clinical Trial Award

Funds three years replicating a natural product's effect on its target in people, for teams that have already done the pharmacokinetics work.

OpenNational Institutes of HealthUnited States

This is the second half of the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health's natural product pathway, offered on its own to teams who have already done the first half somewhere else.

The products are the same: botanicals, dietary supplements, probiotics, and nutritional regimens that standardise a specific naturally occurring compound, where compelling preliminary evidence exists.

T…

Three-year early-phase clinical trials replicating a natural product's impact on target engagement in humans and testing the association between the degree of engagement and functional or clinical outcomes, including optimisation by dose or formulation, combination with another treatment engaging the same target, or study in a different population. Trials must be designed so positive and negative results are equally informative.
