Early Immune System Development and Ontogeny

Funds research into how the immune system forms in the womb, infancy and early childhood, including under HIV or antiretroviral exposure.

A newborn's immune system is still being built when it arrives, and what happens before birth can shape it for years afterward — a process that matters even more, and is understood even less, when a pregnancy involves HIV or antiretroviral therapy.

Clinical trials are optional.
