Intervention Research to Improve Native American Health
Funds research that builds on Native community strengths to prevent disease and get proven interventions adopted and sustained.
NIDA leads this initiative alongside other NIH institutes and centers, and its target is morbidity and mortality in Native American and other Native populations — a wider brief than any one disease or one institute's usual mission.

Research to reduce morbidity and mortality in Native American and other Native populations: studies of the causes of health problems, development, adaptation and testing of interventions for health promotion, disease prevention, treatment or recovery, and research on disseminating and implementing strategies to adopt, integrate, scale and sustain them. Interventions are expected to build on community knowledge, strengths and resilience, and to be adaptable to other communities.
