Funds translational centers building human microphysiologic systems — engineered tissue platforms — for infectious disease drug and biologic development.

Most microphysiologic systems — engineered platforms that mimic how a tissue or organ actually behaves, sometimes called organ-on-a-chip systems — have been built for cancer or toxicology. Almost none have been built for infectious disease, and this notice exists to close that gap.
