Funds work on the methodological problems that make trials of rapid-acting psychotropic drugs hard to interpret, and on sustaining the treatment afterwards.
Rapid-acting psychotropic drugs produce effects within hours rather than weeks, and that speed breaks the trial designs psychiatry has spent decades refining. Blinding is harder. The comparison is harder. What happens after the effect wears off is barely studied.

Clinical trials addressing the methodological challenges of testing rapid-acting psychotropic interventional drugs, elucidating the components of their therapeutic effects, and studying how these drugs and adjunctive psychosocial interventions are optimally delivered, monitored and sustained over time to improve effectiveness and generalisability.
