XPRIZE Healthspan — Finals Phase
Funds teams developing therapeutics that improve longevity through practical medical research and validation.
Eligibility · Global — open worldwide
XPRIZE Healthspan is a $101 million incentive prize competition launched in 2023 to accelerate the development of therapeutics that restore muscle, cognitive, and immune function by a minimum of 10 years — with a goal of 20 years — in adults aged 50 to 80. Treatment duration must be one year or less. The competition is co-titled by HEVOLUTION and SOLVE FSHD; GSK serves as a pharmaceutical industry sponsor. A parallel FSHD Bonus Track, also sponsored by SOLVE FSHD, offers an additional $10 million for therapeutics that substantially improve muscle function in individuals with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy, bringing the total prize pool to $111 million.
The competition runs from 2023 through 2030 with staged milestones. Primary registration closed in December 2024, and the Finals Application Deadline was April 22, 2026 at 7:00 PM PT. Discretionary late registration remains open after Milestone 1 for a $10,000 fee and after Milestone 2 (August 2026–July 2027) for $100,000. First Milestone Winners were announced in May 2025. Guidelines were updated to version 2.2 in January 2026, and Finals Rules and Regulations were released in April 2026. Eligibility is open globally to for-profit companies, academic institutions, nonprofit research organizations, student teams, and international teams.
To enter, teams must register on the XPRIZE Prize Operations Platform (POP), pay the applicable fee, sign the Competitor Agreement via DocuSign, and submit a qualifying application for review. The grand prize track requires measurable restoration across all three functional domains — muscle, cognitive, and immune — making a broad-spectrum therapeutic approach necessary for the main prize. The FSHD Bonus Track can be pursued simultaneously with the main competition. Finalist judging occurs in 2026, with the competition concluding and final awards made in 2030.
