Winning the competition doesn't hand a company any license to the underlying Army-owned IP -- the prize funds commercialization strategy work, not IP rights themselves, and no license is granted by virtue of participating or winning. Submissions are treated as privileged information, but they can still be shared with government employees, allied-nation governments, and designated support contracto…

Open to eligible U.S. small businesses that can propose a commercialization pathway for one of 16 curated Army IP sets, spanning chemical detection and decontamination, space-based navigation, thermal sensing, water treatment, power generation and rapid infrastructure. Only for-profit small businesses that are majority U.S.-owned may enter; non-profits are not eligible.
