Looks for U.S. non-academic 501(c)(3) organizations, advocacy groups, and state or federally recognized Tribes working in or serving maternity care deserts, areas without hospitals, birth centers or obstetric providers. Proposed research must address community-identified maternal health needs and now also welcomes research into fathers' role in maternal health outcomes. Academic partnerships are welcome, but the lead applicant cannot be a university or currently hold an NIH grant as primary awardee.
