This call funds research into how air traffic management must adapt for hydrogen, battery-electric and hybrid-electric aircraft, which fly, refuel and turn around differently from today's kerosene-powered fleet. It wants an assessment of impacts on trajectory-based operations, wake-turbulence separation, route design, airport and network operations, and traffic-demand forecasting, plus future fleet-mix scenarios for 2035 and beyond. It also wants proposals to identify what needs to change in the regulatory framework for air navigation and aerodromes to support these aircraft safely.
