SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking runs this Research and Innovation Action inside Horizon Europe's Digital European Sky call. It expects to fund a single project from a topic budget of EUR 30,000,000, with the EU contribution paid as a lump sum of between EUR 3,000,000 and 6,000,000. This call funds research on on-board detect-and-avoid sensors (electro-optical, infrared, LIDAR, radar, acoustic) for crewed and uncrewed aircraft, and on integrating remotely piloted aircraft into controlled and uncontrolled airspace classes. It also wants enhanced tools for managing space-launch and re-entry operations alongside conventional air traffic, and dual-frequency multi-constellation GNSS receivers that resist jamming and spoofing while supporting precision approaches. Several elements are explicitly civil-military dual-use and must address avionics certification and regulatory requirements.
