PNARDI / IBN ALBANNA — Research & Development (Recherche & Développement)

Supports Moroccan firms with practical innovation in applied technology sectors.

IBN ALBANNA is the research and development projects track of PNARDI, Morocco's Programme National d'Appui à la Recherche-Développement et à l'Innovation. PNARDI is a multi-partner national program co-financed by MESRSI (Morocco's Ministry of Higher Education), Fondation OCP (the philanthropic arm of Morocco's Office Chérifien des Phosphates), CNRST, and UM6P (Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique). All three 2025 PNARDI sub-programs — IBN BATTOUTA, IBN ALBANNA, and NEFZAOUIA — were launched simultaneously on 3 June 2025, with applications submitted exclusively through the Masharie digital platform at masharie.cnrst.ma. The program is framed within Morocco's Royal Strategic Orientations placing scientific research and innovation at the center of national development.

IBN ALBANNA targets R&D project teams at Moroccan academic and research institutions across Morocco's national priority research domains. An information webinar was held on 2 July 2025 to provide guidance to prospective applicants. Award amounts and full eligibility conditions are published in the official call documents on Masharie and were not extracted at intake. Eligible applicants are teams at Moroccan public universities and recognized research organizations; for-profit companies and individual applicants are not eligible to lead proposals under PNARDI's institutional eligibility framework.

The 2025 edition has closed and the program is between cycles as of mid-2026. A 2026 edition had not yet launched as of late May 2026. Research teams at Moroccan academic institutions should monitor the Masharie platform (masharie.cnrst.ma) and the CNRST website for the 2026 IBN ALBANNA call announcement. The co-funding structure involving OCP Foundation and UM6P — two organizations with strong applied and industry-facing research mandates — suggests that proposals with a clear path from research outputs to economic or societal application will be competitive.
