Nysnø Direct Equity Investments
Invests minority equity in Norwegian climate-tech companies alongside private investors who retain control.
Nysnø Climate Investments is a 100% Norwegian state-owned investment company established in December 2017 by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, with a mandate to make long-term investments that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With approximately NOK 5.5 billion in assets under management across 49 active investments and a historical portfolio of 429 capital recipients, Nysnø operates as a patient capital provider focused on climate-tech commercialization. The direct equity program co-invests into growth companies developing climate-friendly technologies in sectors including industry, transport, buildings, agriculture, and land use.
Nysnø always invests as a minority shareholder, holding no more than 49% of any round, and always invests on equal commercial terms alongside private co-investors who must collectively hold at least 51%. Typical direct equity ticket sizes, based on recent transactions, range from approximately NOK 20 million to NOK 100 million or more: Zinus (maritime charging infrastructure) received NOK 50 million in 2024, while Skeie Technology (fish health) received approximately NOK 85 million in 2024. Investments span from pre-seed through Series B stages. Eligible companies must have Norwegian operations or origin.
There is no formal published application call or intake portal. Nysnø conducts deal sourcing bilaterally — companies and fund managers approach the investment team directly via post@nysnoinvest.no or through the contact form at nysnoinvest.no. There are no publicized deadlines or competitive application rounds. Nysnø's offices are in Stavanger (headquarters) and Oslo.
