Verifiering av innovationer med kund (Verification of Innovations with Customers) is a grant program from Energimyndigheten designed to help Swedish small and medium-sized enterprises validate sustainable energy innovations with real customers ahead of commercialization. The 2026 call carries a total budget of approximately 30 million SEK, with individual awards capped at 3 million SEK per project. Eligible innovations must sit at Technology Readiness Levels 4 through 7—past early laboratory proof of concept but not yet commercially deployed. The application deadline is 2026-06-02 at 23:59 CET, and funded projects must start between 2026-08-15 and 2026-12-01.
Eligibility is restricted to SMEs, including startups. Large companies, universities, research organizations, and nonprofits are excluded. Only one application per company is permitted per call cycle. Co-financing from the applicant is required for most eligible activities, though certain business development activities may receive up to 100% funding. Projects run for a maximum of 24 months. Eligible thematic areas span energy efficiency, demand flexibility, renewable energy, and grid robustness.
The program is structured to close the gap between a working prototype or early product and a commercially validated solution by requiring that the validation work be carried out with an identified paying customer or user, not in a laboratory setting. Applicants should identify a committed customer partner before submitting. With a 30 million SEK pool and a 3 million SEK maximum per project, the call can support approximately ten or more projects, making competitive positioning around commercial readiness and energy-system impact the central differentiators for successful applications.
Customer validation of sustainable energy innovations at TRL 4–7 for Swedish SMEs, funding up to 3 MSEK per project across energy efficiency, flexibility, renewables, and grid robustness.
