The menopause transition is a period of large hormonal change, and a period when mood and psychotic disorders appear or get worse. Very little research connects the two mechanistically, which is what this notice funds.

Translational research on the emergence and worsening of mood and psychotic disorders — including perimenopausal depression, generalised anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia — during the menopause transition, on the underlying neurobiological and behavioural mechanisms, to identify targets for future novel treatment interventions. Clinical trials are optional.
